The nine winning towns, cities and regions at the second edition of the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award were all testament to the commitment and teamwork required to build a more inclusive and equal Europe. Each place had, in its own way, worked to break down barriers and build a better Europe for all, regardless of age, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, sex, disability, or being LGBTIQ.
The winners came from seven EU countries and included Brussels, Helsinki, Catalonia, Fundão, Reggio Emilia, and Labin as well as three Gold winners. The three applicants that took home a Gold Award were La Zarza (Spain); Terrassa (Spain) and Gdańsk (Poland). Learn more about their journey and their story below.
